"If you make my word your home, you will indeed be my disciples.” ~John 8:31, The New Jerusalem Bible
Disciple 1 is a general survey of the entire bible. You will read approximately 70% of the bible during the 34 weeks between August 11th, 2010 to May 11th, 2011. The desired results of this study are to develop biblically nourished persons committed to live as disciples. You will also need a good study Bible that contains introductory articles, notes, maps, charts, illustrations, glossaries, dictionary, concordances, and indexes.
Disciple Bible study recommends The New Interpreter’s Study Bible. However, if you already have a study Bible you're familiar with, you're more than welcome to use it!. The best Bible to get is the one that you'll read!!!
This study requires reading large portions of Scripture each week and is based on careful study and preparation. Preparation takes about 30 minutes per day, six days per week. During the course of thirty-four weeks, groups will move through the biblical stories of Creation to the New Jerusalem. The titles of the sessions along with theme words; theme verses; and major persons, events, and topics will set the sequence of the biblical story in the minds of the participants. The principal Scripture for each session follows the chronological movement of the biblical story.
Cost: $34 on or before August 2nd; $39 after August 2nd. (This averages out to $1 per week!). Scholarships available on request.
