LOST - Local Outreach Support Team

Jerry Kiser - Parable of the Lost Sheep

12 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? 13 And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away! 14 In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish.
Matthew 18:12-14

In this scripture God makes it very plain how important His lost sheep are to Him. He rejoices more over the recovery of one that is lost than on all the 99 He has in his stable. There is a ministry in our church that shares these same feelings. It is called the “Local Outreach Support Team” (LOST). We are meeting weekly and praying for the lost souls around our church and after prayer we are working on a couple of projects to help find these lost sheep. The members of the LOST team are focusing on two important events in the life of our church.

The first is in enhancing and strengthening our prayer ministry. We are working now to offer more opportunities for our congregation to pray. Fred Walsh is working alongside us (he is the prayer minister for our church) and he is also one of the LOST team members. You will hear more on how we are helping to provide more ways for prayer to be integrated into all our lives and the lives of people outside our church.

Also, we are working hard to reach out to our community through the new service that is starting Easter Sunday in our new facility. We have set a plan into motion that has several parts to it that I will outline below. Our goal is to reach out to the community and find 50 new visitors for the new service I on Easter Sunday. You will be hearing more on this from all kind of sources as the weeks go by, however here is a brief outline of the plan.

  1. We are committed as a team to pray for the 50 people every chance we get until we get them here.
  2. We are mailing a flyer to 150 new people that have just moved into our area this past month. We hope to continue to mail to new movers as our budget permits each month.
  3. We are promoting the event by wearing badges everywhere we go, so that people will ask us about the new service. We have extras and would love to share them with anyone that will wear one. They say “ask me about 50”. They are a great lead in to inviting someone to our service. (See any of us with badges on to ask about getting one for you).
  4. The Saturday before Palm Sunday a group of us will be going door to door to personally invite people from neighborhoods near our church. This is a blast, if you have never done it before, come join us for the fun. If you can’t go with us, we need a prayer team that will be praying while we are out there.
  5. On Palm Sunday we will be passing out personal invitation cards to the congregation that will have maps as well as an invitation to come on our grand opening service on Easter Sunday. We need your help handing these invitations to at least two people you know and inviting them to our new service.
Man, what an exciting time at our church!! Get ready for the ride!!

PS- training for becoming a member of the LOST team is coming soon on Wednesday nights if you are interested see Jerry Kiser or Matt Riley. The classes are broken up into two six week sessions and last about an hour and a half.
